FAQ

What about normal animals?

There are normal animals, seen exactly as such. So far, there have been horses, wolves, and a cooked chicken. There'll be all sorts of non-anthropomorphic animals popping up in the story, and don't expect them to be made into anything more than that, as far as relevance to the characters go. Dracula's a wolf, but the wolves he commands are -just- wolves.

Why does Jonathan have to shave?

There's two answers. The first is that he's an animal symbolically, and that's not going to have an impact on the actual story, which involves a scene with Jonathan shaving. Second explanation is that he's trimming his whiskers to make himself look less bestial and uncivilized. That's also why I decided 'good' Victorian ladies keep their tails hidden. In other words, don't worry about it, or pretend the second explanation makes sense. Whichever you want!

Is Jonathan a fox or a coyote?

I first intended for Jonathan to be a fox. His character design, beyond the first few sketches, started to look distinctly coyote-like, which I ignored for a long while.
Upon further reflection, somewhere in the middle of chapter three, I decided to go with what he obviously wanted and make him a coyote officially. Similarly, Mina's species changed from cat to lynx in the early stages of production, but by that time, she hadn't shown up in the comic yet.

How long does a page take?

Anywhere from an hour to three hours. The page with Vlad the Impaler riding his horse through the Turkish Army took about eight hours to do, the longest any of these has taken so far. They usually end up taking about an hour and a half, with most time spent on inking.

Are you going to publish the comic when it's finished?

The comic is going to end up being extremely long. 500+ pages long. I'd love to find a traditional publisher for the work, and a bound version of this sucker would be so cool. I don't know who would pick up such a long work, or the details with self-publishing the same, but I'll look into that more when the time comes. It's a long way off.

Will you draw _________?

I don't take requests. Between my own projects, and stuff for work, I don't have much time for commissions, much less freebies. It's not that I wouldn't like to, but my situation doesn't have room for that right now.

Why don't zombies eat each other's brains?

I'll get back to you on that one as soon as I conclude the study.
