Arthur Holmwood Arthur is the oldest and only mentioned son of Lord Goddalming, heir to that title, and a rather personable, if high strung, Victorian gentleman. He's friends with Jack Seward and Quincy Morris, his old hunting buddies, and in love with Lucy. His father hasn't been doing too well, as of late, and he's continuously called back to the family estate to help out with his father's business because of this. Poor Arthur takes a series of rapid blows in the story, and manages to come out okay despite it. The professor is somewhat protective of the young man, seeing some similarity in him with his own situation, and with his son. Arthur, in turn, has trouble trusting Van Helsing's motives, and seems a rather skeptical person. As mentioned, he's also high strung, and quiet, though how much of this is true to his personality, and how much is a result of all the tragedy in his life isn't clear. We don't get to see much of who Arthur is when he's not in pain. I made Arthur a ferret because of Van Helsing's comment about him looking like his son. I didn't want to make him another raccoon, though, because I tried not to overlap species. That would get a little confusing. |
